I was fortunate to work with Terry Ayugi for over a decade at Chimurenga where she was my closest collaborator.

As the administrator of an outfit that functioned simultaneously as a cultural publication, radio station and community arts centre, Terry was responsible for everything and everyone, and then some. All of which she handled with great dedication, amazing efficiency and a rare social intelligence.

During her tenure Chimurenga grew into an internationally acclaimed organisation and her legacy is visible in our current work. She remains one of our most trusted advisors.

I have known Terry Ayugi for the past 5 years during which she has worked as the administrator for the Life Righting Collective.

Terry jumped in to turn a long-winded transcription into a useful record of a meeting with clear discussion points and agreements. She also used parts of the transcript to summarise a key organisational approach.

She was genuinely interested in the topic, and it showed - what started off as a relatively technical task turned into something we could actually use to share internally and to inform other knowledge products.

Terry kept me up to date, checked in to ensure clarity and delivered ahead of deadline. I was impressed and she is definitely of my short-list of 'consultants who can'.

I brought Terry in a couple of months after I’d started working solo on a project and realised within minutes of our first meeting just how much I’d needed her.

I found in her a true collaborator who was genuinely invested in the project as though it were her own. When things weren’t coming together, she was there to troubleshoot ideas, offer support and encouragement and her secret weapon - the most beautiful spreadsheets I’d ever seen in my life, LOL, that brought order to the chaos.

What is really cool about Terry is that she is as intentional about delivering on the outputs as she is about creating a space where you feel heard and supported.

I have known Terry for a long time and was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her over a short period of time recently.

Terry is highly efficient, dedicated and thorough. She can enter into a new area of study - in this case Gender and Economic Justice, quickly make sense of it and provide value.
